Newell Coach was founded in 1967 on principles that still guide us today: create an innovative, high-quality product and support it with unparalleled customer service. From L.K. Newell's groundbreaking introduction of the industry's first diesel-pusher motorhome to today's cutting-edge active suspension and steering tag axle systems, Newell has remained a driving force in the evolution of the luxury motorcoach.
Still privately owned and operated as a family business, Newell entered a new chapter in 2024 with a change in ownership to Grant and Amber Kernan and Pat and Becky Dwyer—longtime leaders in the company who share a deep commitment to Newell's legacy, values, and future.
Our success is rooted in the dedication of our talented, experienced team—many of whom have been with us for decades. Nestled in the small community of Miami, Oklahoma, we are proud to build every Newell Coach with the craftsmanship, care, and values that define our region.
In celebration of our 50th anniversary, we launched the p50 Edition—a striking collaboration with our longtime partners at Porsche Design. This milestone coach and the opening of our 75,000-square-foot production facility marked a new era of growth and innovation.
That momentum continues today. With the completion of our newly constructed corporate offices in early 2025, we remain committed to raising the standard for luxury travel, engineering excellence, and exceptional customer care—for generations to come.
Our Evolving Story
Newell's History
1967
L.K. Newell purchased the motor home division of Streamline Trailer Company.
The first Newell is completed in Miami, OK.
1971
Newell introduces the first rear engine Class A.
The first underfloor open bay with pass-thru storage.
1972
Newell introduces first ever rear engine diesel pusher.
1973
Newell is sold by LK and Opal Newell to Chuck and Letty Goldenberg.
1976
The last front engine Newell is produced.
1979
Newell is purchased by Karl and Alice Blade.
1980
Newell FMCA Chapter owner club organized. 6V92 becomes the standard engine.
1985
8V92 engine is introduced, a first in the motorhome industry, for a significant power increase.
1986
Newell introduces the first 102” Wide Class A coach.
1988
Newell introduces the first motorhome longer than 40 foot in length.
1990
Newell series 2000 established the “clean square box” styling concept for the entire rear engine motorcoach industry.
1995
Newell introduces “Hastings Hump” adding 8 inches to the interior height in the rear of the coach.
1997
Newell introduces slide rooms to the market, leading to the first flat floor slide and inflatable air seal to the industry.
2004
Newell adds ZF suspension and active rear steer axle, a first in the motorhome industry.
2005
Newell establishes design relationship with Porsche Design on the exterior styling.
2016
Production operations move into new facility.
2017
Newell introduces p50 body styling and Intrepid dash.
2024
Newell transitions to new ownership under Grant & Amber Kernan and Pat & Becky Dwyer.
2025
Newell moves into new corporate offices.
