The Process of Designing Your Newell Coach

Oct. 12 2021 News By Newell Coach

When clients reach out to us for a custom luxury motor coach from our Newell Coach manufacturing team, the ensuing design process is one of the most enjoyable parts of the build. We work directly with each and every individual client to design a custom coach that meets their needs -- there are no models or cookie-cutter approaches, and each of our coaches will be unique in its own ways to fill the precise desires of the client who designed it.

What are the important elements and features of the Newell Coach customization process you should be aware of as you prepare to contact our team? Here's a basic summary featuring some of our most important themes, helping you prepare for one of the most enjoyable parts of your custom coach manufacturing process.

Basic Floor Plan and Components

First and foremost, we'll sit down with you and determine the type floor plan you're considering for your luxury coach. There are numerous templates and layouts to choose from, so we work with your desires and vision for the coach in order to determine which type will suit it best. And even if you want to depart from these templates altogether and design your own customized floor plan, this is easily doable. During this phase, it’s important to think about how you will live in the coach: Are you full-timers? Will you be traveling with children? Do you plan to have short trips, or stay in a luxury park for extended periods? All of these decisions will help drive a floorplan and living space that’s perfect for the way you use your coach.

One important area of discussion will be the size and location of the slideouts. Due to our proprietary chassis, Newell allows more flexibility and living space than any motorhome in the industry. We'll also discuss other necessary components, such as kitchen appliances and many other basic setup pieces. The floor plan itself will help define some of these elements, such as coach length and entry door location and where they can be placed inside the coach. We'll also determine whether you want a multi-bathroom coach, a bunk bed area, or a sleeper sofa at the front of the coach -- these are just a small sample of options to consider as we determine your new floor plan.

This part of the process is especially vital with Newell Coach compared to many of our competitors. This is because all our components are placed and fit precisely, from the electrical system through plumbing and HVAC, even in areas that you might not have considered. Each of these components will be built-in as the chassis and body are fabricated -- unlike most other manufacturers, who add these in later instead. This makes the floor plan and basic component setup even more important, as you can design where everything will be placed.

Interior Design Elements

As soon as you've organized the floor plan, you'll also turn your focus to the interior materials and décor selection. The process is not unlike selecting an interior design for a luxury home. Newell’s design center has samples of some of the most luxurious flooring, fabrics, leather, and tile samples from across the world. You will work on-on-one with our design team to select a theme and color palette to match your personal style.

Included in this process is selecting from a broad range of furniture finishes, ceiling designs, and accent lighting. We have a deep database of photographs that you will review with the team to help develop you visualize what features and elements will blend together for your coach. Whereas some manufacturers carry a similar style and aesthetic throughout all of their coaches, Newell prices itself on helping you, the customer, design an interior that encompasses your vision for your interior space.

Additional interior elements that will be discussed include plumbing and lighting fixtures, drawer placement and sizing, area rugs and artwork.

Exterior Design

An exciting part of the Newell design process if working with our graphic artist to develop a paint scheme for your coach’s exterior. Newell’s in-house paint team is the best in the business, and we work with you to develop a theme that represents your style and personality. As with our interiors, we have a large catalog of exteriors to review for inspiration, and samples of some of the popular techniques and finishes we offer.

From subtle ghosting and drop shadows, to bold metallic colors and hand striping, your coach will be all about you. Some customers choose a design that complements the interior theme. Others choose a radically different direction for the exterior. Whatever you choose, our team of artists will turn your paper sized graphic design and turn it into a 45-foot work of art.

Special Options

As the leader in motorhome customization, Newell offers a wide variety of special options to complete your coach. You’ll be able to select from popular components or system options like integrated power washers, exterior entertainment and outdoor kitchen plans, specialized trailer connections, and many, many more. While our list of options is expansive, it can possibly contain all the unique and specific customizations Newell has done over the years. If you have an idea, simply ask your design team, and we’ll work hard to make your dreams a reality.
