Tips on Motor Coach Golf Club Storage and Security

Jun. 7 2021 News By Newell Coach

There are a few activities that go hand-in-hand with ownership of a luxury motor coach, and one of the most popular is golfing. Plenty of motor coach owners will plan trips to locations that boast golf courses along with other amenities or areas of interest, and the coach offers a large space easily capable of storing and protecting golf clubs – which, for some, are a significant investment they want secured on trips or vacations.

At Newell Coach, we’re happy to offer a wide selection of new and pre-owned motor coaches, bringing luxury and comfort to any trip or excursion you’re looking to take. We know full well that some of our clients purchase our vehicles with golf at least partially in mind, and we’ll direct you to our inventory that’s best for this sort of pursuit plus any others you’re interested in.

What are some of the general tips we’d offer to our clients on keeping golf clubs and accessories safe and secure in the motor coach – plus clean and ready to go for your next outing? Here are several areas to consider for your next golf trip.

Proper Motor Coach Size

One of our tips here actually goes all the way back to the selection of your motor coach, and it’s an area you should be thinking about in advance if you know you’ll be using the coach to store clubs regularly: Choose a coach that boasts enough space for your needs. We’re talking about your golf clubs here in this blog, sure, but this theme applies to numerous areas of any coach purchase.

Floor plan and storage space are big-ticket items to pay attention to, and those who don’t will see the negative results down the line. For instance, if you’re a golfer who wants to use your coach to carry multiple sets of clubs to and from various locations, but you purchase a motor coach that’s relatively small or quickly becomes filled with other items, you’ll find yourself out of luck. Golf clubs are pretty bulky when they’re all in the bag together, so you want to ensure you have robust space available – and space where the clubs can sit without being damaged or moving around too much, at that.

Club Bag Selection

Another pre-trip area to pay close attention to, especially if you know you’ll be using the motor coach to transport your clubs: Choosing the right golf bag. There are numerous bag types out there, including both tour bags and roller bags, but the ideal choice here for those who golf in several locations is actually neither of these: It’s what’s known as a golf travel bag.

This bag does the best job of minimizing the space that’s needed to store the clubs, making them more compact as they sit together while still protecting them. Be sure the travel bag you purchase is the right size – going too small will cause clubs to put pressure on one another and risk breaking, while going too large will allow too much wiggle room and might allow clubs to smash into each other.

Pre-Storage Club Maintenance

Now that you’ve dealt with basic size and storage needs, it’s time to hit some important themes for once you’re on your trip. Here are a few basic tips to carry out before storing clubs, typically done at the end of a round before you store them for the day/night:

  • Ensure clubs are completely dry and clear, including removing all dirt or water.
  • Polish the clubs so they maintain luster and integrity while storing – you don’t have to do this after every round, necessarily, but it should be done regularly.

General Motor Coach Club Packing Tips

Here are some tips we offer when it comes to location and motor coach storage:

  • Never store clubs in the trunk of a car. This sort of storage will allow clubs to crash around into one another and create damage. In addition, the sorts of temperature fluctuations in these areas may be harmful to clubs.
  • Keep clubs out of aisleways or any other common walking pathways, plus keep them secured so they don’t jut out and make contact with anyone.
  • Store the clubs in a place that’s temperature-controlled and allows clubs to stay apart from one another during basic movement.

In addition, here’s some expertise on the way you pack your golf bag and how this might assist you during motor coach or other forms of storage:

  • If you have this feature available, remove club heads ahead of packing. This allows for more efficient packing while also limiting club damage risks.
  • If applicable given the size of your coach, consider a telescopic pole that sits inside your bag and extends within it. It takes the pressure off the clubs themselves, preventing any snapping or other damage risks.
  • Pack around your clubs with towels, clothes or other forms of soft fabric – and never with tees and balls, which should be in another location where there’s no chance of contact with your clubs.
  • Don’t over-pack the bag with clubs or other items, as this risks breaking both the bag and the clubs. Also, this will be very heavy for you on the course itself.
  • Finally, be sure to properly lock and secure your coach if you’re leaving your clubs alone for any period of time.
